Zij spelen zowel single, dubbel als mixtoernooien. Ilonka van Zijl en Grace Reynaert zijn routiniers en spelen de eerste ronde tegen elkaar. Ilonka tennist al tien jaar; Grace staat reeds twintig jaar op de baan. Ondanks haar ervaring is Grace bij het inspelen nog erg zenuwachtig. Ze heeft vorig jaar niet deelgenomen aan de Pre Games. Daarom is het nu des te spannender. Maar tijdens de match slaat ze stralend de ballen van zich af. “Ze staan allebei heel goed te spelen”, zegt de coach. “Het is spannend: 4-4 . Het is nu erop of eronder”. Ilonka wint uiteindelijk, waarna Grace lachend naar het net loopt om haar te feliciteren.Last Wednesday, after a good night sleep, the six Dutch tennis players were fit to go for it. They will play the singles, doubles, as well as the mixed tournaments. Ilonka van Zijl and Grace Reynaert are ‘old hands’ and they will meet in the first round. Ilonka plays tennis for ten years already; Grace hits the gravel for over twenty years.In spite of her experience, Grace is still very nervous during the warming-up. Last year she didn’t participate to the Pre Games. That’s why it is even more exciting now. But during the match she beats the balls away from her with a shiny face. “They both are playing very well”, the coach says. “It’s very close: 4 – 4.
